Can vitiligo be passed on to a child?

It is possible for parents to pass vitiligo on to their children. One theory is that three faulty genes can increase the risk, and these genes can be passed from parent to child. Inheriting these genes, however, is no guarantee of developing vitiligo. About 20 percent of people with vitiligo have at least one other family member with it.
